WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU COME

We know it's not easy visiting a new church for the first time.  As you walk toward the front door you have a hundred questions running through your mind, questions like:  Will they be friendly? Am I dressed appropriately?  Will they ask me for money?  Will my kids enjoy it?  Will the sermon be boring?  Do I have to participate in anything or can I just sit and watch?
Don't worry, we've all been there.  That's why here at Woodbury we've tried to make your experience as comfortable and inviting as possible, while at the same time making sure our first priority is to  honor Christ.  So, take a minute to read what you can expect at a typical Woodbury service.

A Comfortable Environment -
You don't need to dress up, it's a casual atmosphere.  You'll notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, in anything from "office casual" to jeans and sneakers.  Think of it as spending time with good friends.  We want you to come just as you are and leave more passionate about following Christ.
Friendly People -
Don't be surprised if you meet a bunch of people.  Our church is full of people who truly want to get to know you. Here at Woodbury we're not just about filling a seat on Sunday mornings - we are about relationships.  That's why life groups are so important.  Authentic, caring relationships can be hard to find, but you'll find a home in our small group ministry.
Great Services -
Whether this is your first time in church or you're a church "veteran", you'll find worship that's engaging and a message that's relevant.  Let me take you through a normal worship service.

Singing - The worship service has plenty of singing to encourage you spiritually and honor our Savior.  We have songs interspersed throughout the service.
Greeting - We take a few moments to greet one another and shake a few hands.
Prayer - We take a few minutes to provide an opportunity for prayer with the elders
Lord's Supper - This is a time where we
specifically remember  Christ's sacrifice for us on the cross.
Offering - Just an opportunity to give back some of that with which we've been blessed - no obligations.
Bible Hour for Kids - We know that sometimes the kids need something a little more on their level.  So, while the adults are listening to the message, children 2 1/2 to 2nd grade have a separate class just for them.  If your kids are shy and would rather stay with you in the adult assembly, that's fine.
Message - We work hard to provide a scriptural and relevant message that can easily apply to your life, no matter what stage of life you're in.  Go to the messages page to find the current sermon series.
Dismissal - And that's it!    Don't be surprised to have a few more people introduce themselves afterward.  We can't help it, we're really glad you're here!

Unique Worship -
In our worship together on Sunday mornings you'll experience a unique style of worship.  We sing new praise songs as well as older hymns.  What you might find unique is that we sing them a capella (without instruments).  The singing is lead by a worship leader and praise team.  Don't worry, you don't have to be a great singer.  Just sing from your heart, that's all that God asks for.

And that's about it!  While our primary goal is to be pleasing to God, we've tried to insure that our services are friendly and accessible.  Come find out for yourself this Sunday!
